To rotate tires on a Toyota RAV4, follow these steps:
1. For FWD tires: Move front tires to the rear. Then switch left and right rear tires to the front.
2. For AWD tires: Move front tires to the rear. Switch left and right rear tires to the front. Directly place rear tires into the front positions. Check your owner’s manual for details.
Lift the vehicle using the jack, and securely place jack stands under the frame for safety. Now, remove the lug nuts and take off each tire. For all-wheel drive (AWD) models, follow the recommended tire rotation pattern. Typically, front tires move to the back on the same side, while rear tires cross to the front.
Once you have placed the tires in their new positions, replace the lug nuts and tighten them in a crisscross pattern for even pressure. Lower the vehicle back to the ground and fully tighten the lug nuts. This rotation should be done every 5,000 to 7,500 miles to ensure uniform wear and prolong tire life.
After completing the tire rotation, it is advisable to check your vehicle’s alignment. Proper alignment ensures safe handling and further enhances tire longevity.
